Journey to Imaginarium

Journey to Imaginarium rejects the linear story in which a village child becomes successful only after leaving home and reaching a global centre. This memoir-novel moves from Wuwuk, family, education, university teaching, filmmaking, and community work to the Indigenous Imaginarium in California. Los Angeles, Topanga, and Hollywood do not appear as places that give imagination to the village. Instead, the journey makes visible what had long been alive at home. The narrative circles back to land, memory, failure, prayer, and responsibility. Imaginarium becomes an inner space through which a person imagines a more just life for land and community. The book does not conclude with achievement; it remains a continuing journey shaped by return.
